⬆️ Josh Allen Over 0.5 interceptions (+110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

While superstar quarterback Josh Allen did a great job limiting his turnovers last year, one wonders whether last season’s six interceptions and 1.2% interception rate were outliers. In 2023, Allen threw 18 interceptions at a rate of 3.1%. Further, Allen threw 14 interceptable passes last season. That’s still a far cry from the 27 interceptable passes he threw in 2023, but it is a sign that he was lucky to throw just six picks.

Meanwhile, the Ravens have explicitly made forcing more turnovers a focus of this year’s defense. Last year’s playoff exit for the Ravens saw the Bills win the turnover battle 3-0. Don’t be surprised to see a safety like Kyle Hamilton get more aggressive near the football, where they may have once settled for an easy tackle or pass breakup a year ago.

Further, Baltimore’s upgrades to the secondary will make it easier for an errant throw, bad decision, or batted ball to get picked off. The Ravens added safety Malaki Starks, who tallied six picks for Georgia through his three-year career, in the first round of the draft. They also signed cornerback Jaire Alexander, who tallied two picks in seven healthy games last year – and five picks in his last full season (2022).

With Allen Over 0.5 interceptions at +110 (47.6%) at Caesars, a $10 bet will earn you a nice profit of $11. Lock this one in before the odds move closer to +100.

⬆️ Lamar Jackson longest pass completion Over 35.5 Yards (-118) ⭐⭐⭐

The Ravens’ offense is tricky to handicap. A good game for the Ravens could mean either a huge Derrick Henry performance or a huge Lamar Jackson performance, but not both. Last regular season, the Ravens stomped the Bills 35-10, but they got only 156 passing and 54 rushing yards from Jackson as Henry galloped for a whopping 199 yards and a score.

So, instead of projecting Jackson for another monster game, I recommend backing him for a monster play by taking the Over for his longest pass completion. At 35.5 yards, it’s a big ask, but it’s a number he cleared in last year’s playoff game in Buffalo as well as in 13 of his 17 regular-season appearances.

Buffalo’s secondary was very beatable aside from cornerback Christian Benford last year, and the Bills didn’t do much to improve the unit this offseason. They traded the underperforming Kaiir Elam, but they replaced him with an aging Tre’Davious White, who is doubtful tonight. Lock in the Over 35.5 for -118 (54.1%) at BetMGM, where a $10 bet will score you an $8.47 profit.

🔥Josh Allen anytime touchdown scorer (+106) ⭐⭐

Unlike Jackson, Allen is one of his team’s go-to rushers near the goal line. Allen tallied 10 rushes inside the 5-yard line last year, the second-most for Buffalo, while Jackson didn’t even get a single one. Allen turned those 10 carries into eight yards, and, most importantly, seven scores.

The Baltimore defense is notoriously stingy against the run. The unit ranked third in run-block win rate last year. It won’t be easy for Allen to find pay dirt, but he’s likelier to do so than an average-sized running back like James Cook. Both a broken red-zone passing play and a goal-line sneak could cash this bet.

A $10 bet on Allen to find the end zone at +106 (48.5%) will score you a $10.60 profit at FanDuel. Considering Allen ran for 12 touchdowns last year, the plus-money price is enough to draw me in.

How do NFL player props work?

Player props are wagers on individual performances rather than the outcome of the game. Common props include passing yards, rushing yards, receiving yards, and touchdown scorers. For example, if a QB’s passing yards line is set at 250.5, you can bet the Over (251-plus yards) or Under (250 or fewer yards). You can also bet on if a specific player will score a touchdown in the entire game, the first or last touchdown, and more markets.
