My best Cardinals vs. Cowboys prediction based on opening odds for Monday Night Football (8:15 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN) at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, focuses on the high-scoring nature of the Cowboys’ games this season. The Cowboys are the 2.5- or 3-point favorites, but one of my best early picks focuses on the total. It's all part of our NFL Week 9 predictions.

⬆️ Over 53.5 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Six of the Cowboys' last seven games have featured at least 57 points. Their offense managed a modest 24 points last week, and yet there were still 68 points in the game thanks to terrible defensive play.
The Cowboys sit second-last while allowing 31.3 points per game this season, so the Cardinals should go higher than their average of 21.9 points per outing. And while the Cardinals are giving up only 22.0 points per contest (13th), the Cowboys have scored at least 27 in four of their last five games.
Finally, the Cowboys boast the league's best passing offense (263.8 yards per game), and the Cardinals will struggle to slow them down while fielding the eighth-worst passing defense (234.9 yards given per game). BetMGM’s price of -110 implies a 52.38% chance this Over hits. A $10 bet would profit $9.09.

🔢 Cardinals vs. Cowboys opening odds
- Moneyline: Cardinals +130 | Cowboys -155
- Spread: Cardinals +3 (-110) | Cowboys -3 (-110)
- Over/Under: Over 53.5 (-110) | Under 53.5 (-110)
↔️ Cardinals vs. Cowboys line movement
The Cowboys have yet to win or lose back-to-back games this year, while the Cardinals have lost five straight. However, all of the Cardinals’ losses have come by four or fewer points, so I expect the spread to hover between 2.5 and 3.5 all week.
Only two Cardinals games have featured 50-plus points, but at least one team has scored 30 in six consecutive Cowboys matchups. Yes, 53.5 is already a high total, but it could go up even further to as much as 55 before kickoff.
