Two SEC rivals collide in one of Week 3's marquee matchups, and my early Florida vs. LSU prediction expects a defensive duel in Death Valley.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC) from Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. LSU is a 9.5-point betting favorite, with the game total set at O/U 50.5 points. My college football picks anticipate a low-scoring affair from two teams that've struggled to move the ball in the opening weeks of the season.
Our college football predictions for Week 3 offer analysis for the entire weekend slate, including other juicy showdowns from around the SEC, such as Georgia vs. Tennessee and Texas A&M vs. Notre Dame.

⬇️ Under 50.5 (-105) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Florida and LSU are off to vastly different starts to their respective seasons. A lesser in-state school beat the Gators, whereas the Tigers handled business against theirs following a top-five win on the road. However, one commonality between the two is their mediocre offenses.
Brian Kelly's bunch has been especially disappointing on that side of the ball, posting just 40 points through two weeks. That's one of the reasons I'm staying far away from the 9.5-point spread in this SEC showdown. Instead, I'll play Under 50.5 at ESPN BET (-105).
The Gators have managed just 71 points against Long Island and South Florida, whereas the Tigers have scored 40 points against Clemson and Louisiana Tech. They've gone Under at a 100% clip through four combined contests, and I don't see that changing any time soon.
Florida and LSU have averaged 61 total points over their last 10 meetings, but at the same time, they've failed to surpass the 50.5-point mark in four of those matchups. A winning $10 wager at the best college football betting sites profits $9.52.

🔍 Florida vs. LSU odds analysis
LSU opened as a 6.5-point favorite in July, but after Florida's shocking Week 2 defeat, the Tigers are 9.5-point favorites ahead of Saturday's SEC opener for both sides. BetMGM reports 67% of the action is on the hosts, which tells us the line could move even further in the Bayou Bengals' direction ahead of kickoff.
The total has already gone down a few ticks, moving from O/U 54.5 to O/U 50.5 in a matter of days. While the history between these teams tends to lean Over, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the total continue to descend given the defensive talent on both sides.

How do college football odds work?
When betting on college football odds, the point spread shows how many points the favorite needs to win by in order to cash the bet. For example, a favorite of -3 must win by more than 3 points to cover the spread, while an underdog at +3 must win outright or lose by fewer than 3 points to cover the spread.
Moneyline odds represent the payout for picking the outright winner (+200 means a $100 bet wins $200, while -200 means a $200 bet wins $100). Over/Unders let you wager on whether the combined total will be higher or lower than the set number.
