The notorious “Drake curse” has struck again.
On Sunday, the rapper and global icon placed two massive bets, including $250,000 on the Baltimore Ravens to win and $300,000 on tennis star Jannik Sinner to take the US Open. The result was a costly double loss, with Drake losing more than $500,000 on two failed bets.
Sinner, who won last year's US Open and two of the last three big tournaments, lost in four sets to Carlos Alcaraz. It was a hard loss, but not a big surprise. Drake still had one more chance to win with his bet on the Ravens.
Baltimore was leading 40-25 late in the fourth quarter against the Bills. The Bills scored a touchdown to make it 40-32. After that, Ravens star Derrick Henry fumbled the ball, and the Bills got it back close to the end zone. Josh Allen scored another touchdown, and even though the two-point try failed, the Bills were now just two points behind.
Allen then marched the Bills 66 yards downfield, setting up a 32-yard field goal to win it at the buzzer. The final score was 41-40, Bills.
Drake ended the night with his wallet $550,000 lighter and the infamous Drake curse still going strong.
Drake’s comments on gambling addiction spark backlash
Drake’s recent comments dismissing gambling addiction as “a lie” on Instagram have drawn widespread criticism from mental health experts and gambling harm advocates. He has reportedly lost $800,000 betting on the NBA Finals and declared over $8 million in monthly losses.
“Addiction is a lie created by betting companies to keep you playing,” the star claimed. This contradicts the clinical evidence and raises concerns about how celebrity behavior influences fans.
Allegations suggest that gambling operator Stake may be funding his bets as part of a promotional deal, which complicates the ethical standards of influencer marketing. Experts say comments like these can make risky gambling seem normal, especially to young fans who view Drake’s big wins and losses more as fun drama than a real warning.

Celebrity bets and odds are making headlines as Taylor Swift’s odds of headlining the Super Bowl 60 halftime show have skyrocketed following her appearance on Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast.
Kalshi, a regulated prediction market, gave her a 59% chance to perform, up from just 6% earlier in the week. At one point, the global singing sensation peaked at 65%, with over $272,000 wagered on the outcome.
Swift didn’t explicitly confirm anything, but fans are reading between the lines. She joked about thinking of sourdough bread “60 percent of the time,” which many interpreted as a cryptic nod to Super Bowl 60.
While previous favorites like Post Malone and Metallica have lost ground, Swift’s playful hints and massive fanbase have made her the new frontrunner.
